Slips & trips in the street
If you have suffered an injury whilst on the public highway, such as a trip or slip in the street or on the road, you are protected by the Highways Act 1980.
Under section 41 of this Act the local authority has a statutory duty to ensure that paths and roads are adequately inspected on a regular basis and maintained to a safe standard.
In the event the local authority has failed in this duty, you may have the right to claim compensation for any injuries you have suffered as a result of this failure.
