Slips & trips in the street

If you have suffered an injury whilst on the public highway, such as a trip or slip in the street or on the road, you are protected by the Highways Act 1980.

Under section 41 of this Act the local authority has a statutory duty to ensure that paths and roads are adequately inspected on a regular basis and maintained to a safe standard. In the event the local authority has failed in this duty, you may have the right to claim compensation for any injuries you have suffered as a result of this failure.

These types of cases can be difficult however, in most cases, our legal team are able to carryout the initial investigations on a no win-no fee basis. This means that, if after making the initial enquiries with the local authority we take the view that you do not have a successful case, we will simply inform you of this and the reasons why, and not charge you for the work we have done.

In the event that your claim is successful then we will recover the costs for the work we have done from the responsible party, in addition to the compensation you receive. You will therefore receive 100% of your compensation, with no deductions.
